Prepare for a sappy deluxe post. I figured that since I've just been to a family reunion, I may as well share a little about it.
I'm a family kind of gal. I never like being alone, and I'm always happiest when I'm surrounded by those who I love and those who love me. I love feeling that mellow happy atmosphere around me, and I love rooms filled with laughter and joy and just brimming over with love.
See? I told you it'd be sappy.
Now our family has it's kinks and wrinkles, and that's okay. We're still a family, and in the words of my aunt, we're a crazy quilt. Seriously, there's so many personalities in one place and sometimes you'd think it was the making of an atomic bomb, and you know what? That's okay too.
Something I loved was watching all the little kiddo's running around together and just having a blast. It was weird being one of the older one's this time. I can remember thinking it was so cool so stay up late outside even until the grownups went to bed. That never happened at home!
I was in the first wave of grandkids, so I don't really know what it's like to have a gazillion older cousins ready to take you on their lap, but I happily know what it's like to be one of the "big kids." Those little one's teach me so much about patience and love and how much a child needs someone to just "have fun with them."
I loved watching my Grandmama beam from ear to ear each moment I saw her. I loved watching her as she laughed her sides sick at all the stories my aunt told. I love watching her sit in the middle of almost all of her children as they read her their letters and gave her big hugs. She's the "queen" of out family, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
This post obviously isn't about writing. It's about life itself. This is the stuff that life is made of. My oldest cousin summed it up in these words.
"Isn't it funny how it's the little moments in life that mean the most to us?"
And she is so so so right.
I am so grateful to God for putting me in this family. I am proud of who and what they are. I honestly believe that in this day and age, it's rare to find that close knit and strong Christian family who can all get together and just have fun. The Devil has caused so much sorrow in this world, and this place would be even darker if it weren't for the little spots of joy that light it up.

Until next time!
