"Writing is something you do alone. It's a profession for introverts who want to
tell you a story, but don't want to make eye contact while doing it."
-John Green
Well Mr. Green, while I think that you are a very talented writer, I have to disagree with you on this one. Not just some of it, but all of it. Let me hash this out.
1) Writing is not something you do alone.
I'm not lying my friends. A writer has to have encouragement and motivation, and while they can draw a lot of that
from themselves (In fact, they have to) they need other people to tell them to keep going. They have to have someone who will tell them that they appreciate their work. Or else, they feel that it's been wasted.
Writers are also into other articles, quotes, and books. They need tips, no doubt about it. I certainly did and do!
Other people write these things. So how can you be alone in this if you are drawing from other people?
2) Writing is not just a profession for introverts.
Now don't get me wrong here. I am definitely not saying that introverts cannot write. They can and I've read what they have to say. I am only saying that the profession of writing is not for introverts only. I am living proof of that. I'm an utter and complete extrovert. My personality type is ESFP. In other words, "the performer." Writing is just the way I have chosen to "perform". The way I have chosen to give pleasure to other people.
Now before I go any further, I need to add something to this. I personally believe that a lot of people place waaaayyyy too much weight on whether or not they are an introvert or an extravert. I say that you are the way God made you. You are unique in His eyes. The only special group He places you in is His flock. So that being said, let's move
on.
Y'all, writing is a profession for writers. You are either blessed with this talent or you are blessed with another. Everyone has their own reasons for writing of course. That's part of what makes it such a creative thing. I just don't want people to associate this talent with one group of people.
